A general overview of anything and everything pertaining to your, and other's, livelihood.
Here you'll find out how to measure your life's worth, as well as what it takes to take down an enemy!
WHAT ARE THEY?
Did you notice the funky little hearts tattooed onto your hand? Well, friend, those are none other than your LIFE POINTS! (or LP for short!)

To make it easier for you, you may think of them as your HP. Everyone starts with the grand total of 4 LP, a number you'll hopefully mantain until the very end of your journey...

LIFE POINTS
LOSING LIFE POINTS PT.1
TEMPORARY
Temporary loss is very much what you'd expect!
Losing LP isn't a rare occurrence, especially when you're out there fighting Noise or whatever else you may encounter on your DEATH RACE stay.

In battle, the moment your enemy lands a hit, you'll lose 1 LP. Simple, right?

The good news is, all LP lost throughout the day will be restored the moment your character goes to sleep. That, or maybe they'll have a nice snack to do the trick!

Beware, though. If your LP reaches 0, there'll be no way to get it back. That's ERASURE for you, babey!

Losing Life points pt.2
PERMANENT
Now, this is a little trickier.

Permanent loss means you'll lose LP from your GRAND TOTAL POOL.

In other words, considering all characters started with 4 LP, you may now be down to a grand total of 3 LP.
This penalty happens instantly once granted.
At the loss of all 4 Life Points, you face ERASURE.

This particular phenomenon happens when a player is penalized.

★ ICLY this could happen because:
- Your Character failed their mission
- Your Character chose not to participate / show up to a mission
- Your Character crossed the wrong Reaper... oops! They can be a flammable bunch, after all.

★ OOCLY this penalty would also apply if you (and by extension, your OC!) fail to show up to a Main Event... twice!
For every event missed after that, your OC will lose another LP. Aw man...
While we understand not everyone can make it to all events every single time, this should also make it fair to those who do show up.
Since DEATH RACE heavily relies on its events in order to determine who lives and dies, we can't have a player that never participated make it all the way to the finals, right?

As you already know, NOISE are the very enemies you'll encounter while in DEATH RACE!
They're a race of beings born from a person’s Soul. They usually form from the strong emotions of those in the world of the living, taking on the appearance of an animal or mythical creature of sorts. Most of them are malicious, but some can actually be pacific!
Reapers are able to either control the Noise or create Noise of their own to aid them in their tasks.

THE PLANES
While the NOISE can't come into contact with the living, they can very much interact with you!
This happens because, now that you're in the Underground, your PLANES OF EXISTENCE are very close to each other!

Think of it as a layered cake.
At the top stands the REALGROUND, in the middle you'll find the UNDERGROUND, and the bottom you get the NOISEGROUND!

REALGROUND
--------------------
UNDERGROUND (You are here!)
--------------------
NOISEGROUND

THE REALGROUND (RG)
The plane of existence where the Living reside! This is where you lived before you died.
Denizens of the RG generally can't see you, though there are a few exceptions. To them, you are what you would've known as
'ghosts' while you were alive!

THE UNDERGROUND (UG)
The plane of existence where You reside! Reapers also exist here.
As the middle layer, because of their existential frequency, denizens of the UG are able to see real-time 'reflections' of the
happenings in the RG, though they are unable to interact with them.
Alternatively, denizens of the UG are able to see real-time 'reflections' of the happenings of the NG... and interact with them
without any trouble!

THE NOISEGROUND (NG)
The plane of existence where the Noise reside!
Because of the Noise's and Your existential frequencies, you can very easily align and interact with each other.
Denizens of the UG can easily pass over to the NG.

All these layers are mirrors of each other, but they all exist separately.
This means that while happenings in each plane happen regardless of each other, the world you interact with is still there for you!
For example, if you splashed in the ocean of the UG, you'd be able to feel the water and create a wet mess out of yourself... But the ocean would not move in the RG or the NG!

INTERACTION & BATTLE
While interaction with the RG is nearly impossible unless you meet certain conditions (See: Shopping), interaction with the NOISE is an entirely different matter!
Because of your existential frequencies, Noise & You can interact freely. When engaging a Noise in battle, you'll be automatically transferred the NG in order to fight. Did you notice people disappear when the Noise engaged you before? Well, here's why!
While it sounds complicated, it does help that while going ham on this bottom layer of existence, no damage will carry over to the top layer!

You don't have to understand all of it, but to summarize:
When fighting the noise, the damage caused to your surroundings will not transfer over to your current world OR the world of the living. So if you wanted to light a fire in a building while engaging in battle, you're free to do so!
THE NOISE
It's those pesky lil guys again...
IN BATTLE...
When it comes to battle, whatever enemy you face will lose LP the same way you do!
While their LP pools may be bigger, all you need to do is LAND A HIT in order for them to lose LP.

To illustrate it a little easier, here's a way to think about it!

SCENARIO
A scary BOSS NOISE with 20 LP attacks your party. That sounds crazy intimidating, and as a lone Player with 4 LP to their name, I'm sure it is!
However, you have strength in numbers. Your party is currently made up of 5 people. That means if all of you land their hits in a singular turn, that'll be 5 LP damage in one go. Cool, right?!

HOW DO I LAND A HIT?
To land a hit, first you'll need to roll either BEEF or PSYCHE, depending on which you'd like best!
With that, your roll will have to be equal or higher to your opponent's personal threshold.
Let's say this particular NOISE's threshold is set at 10. That'd mean you'll need to roll a 10 or higher in order to hit it!

Can i dodge/defend?
Absolutely! Most of the time, you'll be prompted to roll SWAG (dodge) or BEEF (defend) as soon as it reaches your opponent's turn.
However, if there's no prompt to do so, you'll need to use your battle turn to perform either of those actions. You won't always have the upper hand, after all...

Can i RUN AWAY?
You can! Well... Most of the time!
Though some battles are locked, when it comes to small fry, you can generally run away by rolling a SWAG roll!
Once you've run away from a certain battle, you will not be allowed to rejoin it.

Can i deal more than 1lp damage at a time?
As of right now, no. However, your opponents won't be able to deal more than 1LP damage at a time, either!
We're hoping to use a simple battle system this time around, especially since math isn't really a big forte... ... ... But hey, in the process of testing things out, maybe we'll try new things along the way, too!

ROLL TYPES
To revise our types of rolls, here's how they would each look like specifically in battle!
★ BEEF: Now that you have your PIN with you, Beef rolls allow you to deal damage to the noise! You may also use this type of roll to defend.
★ SWAG: A type of roll useful for dodging an incoming attack or running away from battle.
★ BRAIN: An analysis type of roll, it can reveal information about your opponent as well as revealing a good course of action.
★ PSYCHE: A type of roll intricately tied to your psychic powers, it determines how good your PINs perform! (Watch out for PIN uses. A bad roll still dounts as a use!)
★ NERVE rolls don't serve much purpose when facing off against the Noise... But hey, it doesn't hurt to try! Your enemy might not always be Noise, either way!
